| Hi everyone!
My name is Taleen and
this is a great chance to tell you a little about myself and my music.
It all started a while back (when I was nine); although my parents insist
it was just yesterday, when I did my first performance on stage for the
Washington Opera at the Kennedy Center. That's when I realized that I
loved singing and acting. Looking back, I can't believe I was in six
operas, juggling schoolwork, and everything else - more than once I did
my homework on the floor in the Kennedy Center hallways! The Operas were
a great experience and I followed that with some solo performances like
a Christmas Concert at the White House and singing the National Anthem
for the Washington Wizards and the Washington Redskins. I was also honored
with a chance to sing for the USO at Dover Air Force Base and I was recently
invited to perform overseas. One of my most memorable experiences as
a singer was when I was invited to travel to the Middle East to sing
for Pope John Paul II. I was only twelve and till this day I still remember
singing for him two different times during his visit - What an amazing
man!
Now, I have left opera behind, but I will always value my classical
training - it really helps me with writing and performing my music. For
the past two years I have been writing my own songs and now I am in the
studio producing and recording. It is very important for me as an artist
to establish my own style and have my music reflect who I am. I will
always try to keep it real! I have been very lucky to work with a great
group of talented musicians, engineers, producers - a whole team of people
who love music and have fun. It's also a lot of hard work, between school,
family, friends, rehearsals, the studio, travel and performing, but I
love what I'm doing and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks to my
mom and dad, my sister, my friends, my music team and all my fans that
have been so supportive. I couldn't have done it without you!
